A few days after I had told to change catalytic converters, the failure of which caused the check engine light turned on, I noticed a problem with a shift lever. Usually, it is supposed to return back to the center when it is on neutral, but it didn't when it was pulled to the left. The reason was that the spring of #17 in the above illustration (from Haynes Repair Manual) didn't function properly. After I visited two auto services and was told to postpone the repair until a real big problem on the transmission happened, I could fixed the problem at a transmission service very easily. Just a new spring was installed. I was able to see the new spring shining when my car was raised in MIDAS, where I visited to make the wheel alignment.
